hi dropping by to check how have you been doing lol and also reminded of you because of the amount of dowoo thats been surfacing lately esp that tmap ep š just when i first watched the first part lol somehow one of the first songs that came to mind was taylor swifts imgonnagetyouback then the part aired and well damn š hahahaha jeongwoo is so sweet :( but anws whole lot of jeongbby these past few weeks which feels like a fever dream ><
Aw, thank you for checking on me, haha! Yes, I saw what Dowoo has been up to lately!! What a bunch of lovesick cutiepies!!!
We talked a lot about how much Jeongwoo loves looking at Doyoung's lips whenever he gets the chance (especially in fanfics), but it's so obvious that they love looking into each other's eyes. That kind of eye contact can make your insides melt. It doesn't matter if one of themāor both of themāis wearing a face covering; as long as their eyes are visible, they'll make it a point to look at each other as if they were alone, having their own telepathic conversation. Gosh I feel so spoiled with all the Dowoo crumbs, I could rest in peace easily HAHA!
the moment i read how dobby sees jeongwoo as a warm person I was easily reminded of summer sun jeongwoo š
just read your new fic and thank you! i really loved it somehow it reminded me of that one drama called summer strike
Hey, thanks for reminding me about that because I literally just remembered that part. When I first read the line where Jeongwoo told Doyoung āyou can come back when things get better,ā I was like⦠wait, did he really just say that? Like heās just going to sit there and wait for him to come back??? Why wouldnāt he go look for him instead? That felt so not right to me, like it didnāt sound like him at all.
But then when I reached the last chapter where they meet again, I completely forgot about that. And honestly itās all because of the whole "summer scent" detail. I donāt even know how to explain it properly. The street is crowded, cars are passing by, everything is chaotic, and somehow Doyoung can still recognize that scent. And itās probably just a really faint, passing smell too (I mean⦠unless Jeongwoo literally bathes in perfume instead of water lmao).
But yeah, recognizing a familiar scent in such a big, crowded place with a million other smells around⦠that scene really got to me. Just imagine Doyoung standing in the middle of a busy intersection. What makes him turn around isnāt seeing a familiar silhouette that looks like Jeongwoo, but catching a familiar scent Jeongwoo. That detail is honestly so beautiful it almost makes me want to cry.
So I ended up forgetting that Jeongwoo once said that to Doyoung, and it even kind of overshadowed the fact that even though he said that, he was actually the one who went looking for him first haha. Realizing that now is honestly kind of fascinating.
And now that Iām talking about this, something else just came to mind: do you think they exchanged addresses? Honestly, whether they did or not, that moment when they meet again at the intersection is still beautiful to me. But if they didnāt⦠wow. I genuinely donāt even know what to say. That coincidence would make the scene like a hundred times more amazing.
Just imagine Doyoung leaving without leaving any contact info, not even sure if heāll ever see him again. And then suddenly that person just appears out of nowhere and is standing right in front of him. I feel like heād be completely stunned, like totally speechless, brain just short-circuits for a second.
And yes, Iāll keep your words of thanks close to my heart. I just want you to know that I truly appreciate every word youāve written and every work youāve created. Thatās why I also wanted to write something for you hehe. It makes me really happy to know that my rambling could make you laugh. Talking with you is really fun too. I just wish I could send you a million hearts on AO3, but sadly the platform wonāt let me do that :)))
Youāre right, that little āsummer scentā detail changes everything. As per my research (google), scent is a powerful trigger of memory because it directly accesses the brainās emotional center, often bringing back intense nostalgia faster than sight or sound. Same with what happened to my good friend, Doyoungāin the middle of all that noise and chaos, itās not a face or a voice that stops him; itās something so small and familiarāa smell that akin to freedom, joy, and adventure. And I think thatās what makes it feel so intimate and emotional.
As to whether they exchange addresses or not, I'd like to leave that a little ambiguous š¤If they did, it means they were still hoping to find each other again someday. But if they didnāt⦠then that meeting at the intersection really does feel like fate stepping in at exactly the right moment.
Also, it really means a lot to know that something I wrote stayed with you for you to think about it this deeply. And your āramblingā isnāt rambling at allāitās one of the most thoughtful messages Iāve received. If ao3 allowed sending hearts, Iād be sending a million back to you, too. (Ė Ẹ̣̇̄āẸ̣̇̄)ć„ā”
I just stopped by to thank you for this summer story. Ahhh, it feels so good to read your words again, and it makes me even happier that you gave them such a beautiful ending.
14 chapters and almost 10k words, I definitely had such a wonderful time reading every bit of it. And even though itās 14 chapters and 10k words, it still didnāt feel like enough. Honestly, it will probably never be enough when it comes to a Jeongbby fic for me.
I read every single sentence and every word, almost afraid of it ending. But eventually it did, and it was absolutely amazing. Jeongbby always makes me feel so soft, calm, and peaceful when theyāre together, and this fic gave me exactly that feeling.
Thank you again for finishing it and for sharing it with us. I really hope you enjoyed every moment of writing it too. And Iām just a little curious, why did you choose to have them meet again after a year? Why not sooner, or later? Why did it have to be a whole year?
Thank you so much for such nice words and for taking the time to read. š„¹ It really makes me happy to know that you enjoyed it, and that it gave you that soft Jeongbby feeling.
As for why I chose a whole year before they met again, I think I wanted it to feel like enough time had passed for things to settle. If it had been sooner, it might feel like itās too premature for Doyoung to jump right back to that summer dream when he should be grieving, growing, and really sitting with the fact that he is now living one of his nightmaresālosing his mom.
But if it was much later, I feel like they might lose the quiet connection they have build over the limited time they had with each other. And if so much time has passed their time together may start to feel like something that belongs only to the past. So yeah, I think a year would be just the right amount of timeāthe sweet spot for them to be apart and work through things on their own, and then come back together when things are a little better.
I imagined Jeongwoo telling him, āyou can come back when things get betterā and still ended up being the one who went to find Doyoung. A lover boy through and through. š
Again, thank you for reading and for always sharing your thoughts with me. They never fail to make me smile. Like, genuinely. Thank you. š„¹š
Hehe, I guess thatās true then. And honestly, I really like Dyās clumsiness in this story, it kind of softens things a bit and keeps it from feeling too heavy whenever I think about it. But also⦠why do you have to do that? š You really said you tried your best to mimic that hollowed feeling afterwards??? Like, why are you so hard on them and on yourself? But I guess thatās exactly why most of your stories feel so unique. Theyāre painfully realistic. Too realistic. For a fanfic :)))
And what Dy said back in Paris... was that about hope and chances? Because⦠excuse me??? What is this line: "... going from places to placesāfrom Paris to Saint-Tropez to Montenegroāsprinkling, scattering bits and pieces of their love. Spreading their love around the world until it became so big the world itself wouldnāt have any other choice but to see them, to recognize them for what they have always been."
Did you just cast a spell on me or something? Because from now on, I think Iām going to read this story through a much more sparkly lens āØ
Before that, I was thinking: okay, they did get to be together. They understand what theyāre giving up, they know the cost, and they can control their selfish thoughts and feelings. But then I couldnāt help wondering... how long can they really endure living like this? Their love is beautiful, and probably huge, but is it truly big enough to last an entire lifetime like that? After reading that sentence of yours, though, I truly believe theyāll overcome everything. Because they have each other.
And donāt worry, I really enjoyed reading this fic. The timeline confused me a little at first, but thatās totally on me for not being able to catch all details at once. Still, it didnāt take away from the experience at all.
Also, Iām really happy to see that youāre still enjoying writing for Jeongbby. You know, I was completely, dead serious when I said I thought youād jumped off the ship without a farewell š So yeah, Iām genuinely relieved now.
So pleaseee keep being "miserable, screaming, and crying" while writing for them because trust me, Iām not doing any better whenever reading your painfully beautiful, painfully sad love stories either :)))
Ohh i take pleasure in hurting them šš¤ though it was a struggle for me, too haha! especially when i know i could just follow my heart and make it a simple happy endingāeverybody happy. but no, of course not. because instead this stubborn person, i wanted to stick to the original ending i have in my notebook just to prove something to mi self . truly a victim of my own demise.
To be fair i had the same questions as you, i have debated myself about the reality and exhaustion from constantly hiding and running (which were the very reasons why most relationships meet their end)āhow long could they become a shadow in the dark?ābut, duh, silly me, of course dy and jw would make it work. never underestimate the sheer tenacity of two people who fell in love in Paris thus fortunate enough to have the blessings of Aphrodite.
And if by association i'd be blessed by the goddess of love too, then i'd gladly be tagged as guilty by association! iām not jumping off or changing ships, i'm here for this submarine ride. Were all in this together š
Wow, you actually did it š. You really let them meet again. I swear, you have no idea how stunned I was, my hands were literally shaking when I saw the word French in the summary.
I read this story once, then went back to reread their one day in Paris fic, and then came back to read this one again before finally writing these lines to you. My emotions were honestly all over the place, it really felt like being on a roller coaster. It was sooooo bittersweet, and honestly⦠youāre always way too good at hurting and comforting at the same time like this.
It was such a relief that āthe book that Doyoung had brought home, but hadnāt read the note tucked in between pagesā became āI found it in the book he gave me.ā I still remember how hollow I felt with all that 'what could have been' in Chapter 10. But now I can finally feel my heart unclench a bit.
And then everything happened. Dy getting drunk, crying, confessing, giving Jw the bracelet and then remembering absolutely nothing. I genuinely felt bad for Dy while reading that scene, but now that Iām writing this to you⦠I also find it a little funny :))) Oh gosh, I should probably be punished for this.
The fact that the bracelet he poured so much love and effort into - meant for the most special person in his heart - completely vanished from the world, only for Dy to see it again right there on Jw's wrist, on the day of his engagement to someone else... I swear, there really are no words to describe the whirlwind of emotions Dy must have felt. Oh my poor little Dy⦠though once again, imagining his facial expression in that moment is still kind of funny.
I really, really loved idea of tennis bracelet: sapphire being Jwās birthstone, and it having the same color as the tiles on the wall of love. That detail honestly soothed my heart so much. And the contrast between how a sober Dy wanted to give it to Jw personally, or at least on Jwās birthday, versus a drunk Dy handing it to some random person he met and telling them to throw it away if they didnāt want it, as if the bracelet meant nothing at all. That was interesting. And then āI just want my Jeongwoo.ā Like hello? What even is that? Why do you keep teasing my heart like this š
And the thought that they finally, truly belonged to each other - that they had already been each otherās before Dy ever became someone elseās (even if it was unlicensed and illicit)⦠at first, that really comforted me. But then āborrowed heartsā appeared, and āthatās how itāll always be for the both of themā, and suddenly my emotions were in complete chaos. Itās truly something that will always sting and simmer deep inside Jeongwoo, wanting Dy
all to himself, to be his and his alone, yet knowing he never can be. That thought alone is enough to leave me breathless even after I finished reading ā¤ļøāš©¹
Still, thank you to Minjeong for everything she did. She really is a wonderful girl, the best friend in the world, the hero of this story.
I love that Paris was like their escape, where they could truly be themselves. I didnāt fully feel that in the Paris fic before, but I definitely felt it in this one. They had to grow up so much here. And now, Montenegro has become their place - their little hideaway to be together.
Sorry for rambling like this, I really couldnāt help it. Thank you so much for this fic. I was honestly so conflicted before deciding what to write to you. Do you see now how badly you played with my heart? Iām completely serious when I say reading your fic feels like riding a roller coaster. Thank you for letting them meet again. A wish Iāve had since first reading the Paris fic back in 2023 has actually come true... itās honestly unbelievable :)))
Oh, my gosh that wasā¦a lot š you were right though, they felt grown in this. Nothing of the carefreeness from Paris, and the childlike wonderment for the possibilities. In here we get to see them being forcibly thrown into an adult prison(adulthood), abandoning the whims and capriciousness they possessed just to fit into their parentsā mold of being perfect for their world. But I also tried to kind of maybe somehow show the clumsiness of Dy whenever he was with Minjeong. And maybe (I hope) thatās why you find it funny how his stupid ass couldnāt remember what he did with his supposed birthday gift for Jw? I donāt know.
And I really, really tried my best to mimic that, like what you said, hollowed feeling afterwards. Like, you understand why it ended that way, but also not, because there must be another way(!!) there is another way but how sure are we that itās any better?
And since you mentioned the wall of love š¤ remember what Dy had said back in Paris? Because they are now, unironically, still going from places to placesāfrom Paris to Saint-Tropez to Montenegroāsprinkling, scattering bits and pieces of their love. Spreading their love around the world until it became so big the world itself wouldnāt have any other choice but to see them, to recognize them for what they have always been.
Ghad! I missed your rumbling ngl haha! Itās been too long since I talked about writing the continuation of Paris fic š and only now i was able to finish it ši hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it (i was miserable, screaming, crying). Thank you for reading!!! <3
i am nothing but a huge cry baby over jeongbby š its lit christmas and i cried at the ending because i wanted them to just be together and be happy but with how their families are it was too impossible to be with each other without having to give up something in return š„² but i guess they will always have montenegro and i know despite the circumstances they love each other still but man does it kill me to see them like this š like if i could just do something for them sighs...also wanna say minjeong you're the best and lit one of the most understanding person in the entire universe and how she was supportive of the love that doyoung has...their love....truly best friend of the decade if i could say..anyways thank yiu for the christmas gift ive missed reading your stories š thank you for still writing for jeongbby/dowoo always what would we do without you really hoping to read more of ur stories soon <3
yeah sorry ābout that šI think I have talked about it before(?) That if they do end up together they will never know peace jk they will never have it easy or convenient with just the way their world works. Though, at some point I thought, what if instead of Doyoung and Minjeong, it was Doyoung and Jeongwoo who were arranged by their parents? But then I imagined with their money and power, their parents (mostly Doyoungās) lean more towards the conservatives and would not be getting caught into something people would have had an opinion on⦠but of course, despite all the abundance of misfortune in his unfortunate privileged life, I just have to have him have Minjeong by his sideāthe bestest best of friend in the whole wide world. He deserves her.
Thank you for reading šand for always sharing your thoughts šwhoever and wherever you are i hope you have a nice and full and warm holiday!!!
Iāll be translating your fic into Vietnamese, and I just wanna share a little bit about how Iāll approach it.
My goal is to make it feel smooth and natural for Vietnamese readers while staying true to your original intent. Iāll focus more on the flow, feelings, and the heart of your story rather than doing a word-for-word literal translation. Any adjustments I make will only be to make the sentences flow and sound better, and to set up the scenes in a way that ensures the full emotional impact is conveyed in the Vietnamese translation.
I hope this approach is okay with you. I wonāt change the core story: your characters, plot, and all key events will remain completely faithful to your original work.
Hellooo, itās me again, the same chaotic person who couldnāt stop babbling about your Jeongbby-in-Paris fic and brought up the messages they missed with you. Itās such a relief to see you showing up again, and I hope you still remember me!
Hehe! Sooo, Iām here this time because Iād love to get your thoughts on something⦠Would you mind if I translate āWhen The Winter Wind Takes A Tollā? I adore that fic way too much. Itās honestly one of my favorite pieces of yours. Of course, full credit would always belong to you, and Iād make sure itās shared respectfully. Though, Iād really love to hear what you think. It would mean so much to me.
