Favorite and least favorite romantic interests for the Doctor
i'm pretty boring. i think they do a lot wrong with her, but River Song was a dynamic i quite loved for the Doctor. somedays you ask me, the "Silence in the Library" two-parter is my favorite episode of all Who. and her meeting the Ninth Doctor in audio was quite beautiful.
i don't hate Rose at all, but i do think it was the wrong call with how their dynamic started, to move it toward romance. she was much too young and it all felt weird.
while i think they moved too fast emotionally, i did quite love Rogue!
Favorite Dr Who species?
Scariest episode?
You know I love me my spooks, but I don't find much of Doctor Who to be scary. My favorite episodes in that ballpark are "The Silence in the Library," "73 Yards," "Midnight," The Waters of Mars," and "Heaven Sent." None of those really fit the bill for me, though. I do find a lot of Torchwood pretty disturbing, though. the concept of S4 is pretty terrifying to me. I'd say the scariest of those is probably "Adrift" or S3, though.
If you really want something scary from Doctor Who, though, you gotta listen to the Big Finish audio dramas. The 8th Doctor story "Scherzo" is mean and horrifying. "The Red Lady" could be the best ghost story in Who. Same goes for the Torchwood audio "Corpse Day." Honestly doesn't get more splatterpunk than that in this universe. If you're more afraid of tech, then check out my fav episode: "torchwood_cascade_CDRIP.tor"
Pick two Doctors. Pick one story from each to swap. (ie. now Ncuti Gatwa is in Vincent and the Doctor, Matt Smith is in The Well.)
This gives me an opportunity to share my favorite idea for a swapped Doctor episode and that's Christopher Eccleston in "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit." He would've eaten that shit up. We could put Tennant in the season 1 finale two-parter. It'd be so fun to see him on the game show, and he similarly would eat up in that last episode.
How did you first see Dr Who? And what episode or moment made you think “this is pretty good, I should keep watching”?
My introduction to Doctor Who was interesting. I watched some of the classic series growing up, but I was exceptionally young and it became this esoteric thing in my mind that I never could really place. Then I marathoned the first season of NuWho with a friend a few years after it came out. I was not impressed with "Rose." I've come around on that pilot by now, but i didn't like any of it until "Dalek." THAT episode hooked me. I believe what kept me watching at the time was, as a budding actor, I was just so enamored by Christopher Eccleston's performance. The character of the Doctor was so new and fresh to me. As a pacifist at the time too, i knew this show was wholly for me with the "coward, any day" line and delivery.
Fav pre 2005 serial (tv)?
Ooo, interesting question! I've admittedly watched a lot less of classic Who, so I'm not as confident in what my absolute fav would be, but gods was "The War Games" spectacular. I love how chonky and epic it is compared to NuWho. it's so engaging and I'm always surprised by how long it is. It's also one of the series' best finales!
