THANK YOU MINDINI omg i know i wasn’t the only one to be irritated by some diehard Yuuji stans who disrespect Gojo’s character as a goyuu shipper. Maybe it’s because I am very empathetic but i would never blame Satoru for reminiscing his past when he was for the first time experimenting high school life with new friends, new activities, and being free from his family who were intrusive. He wasn’t burdened by duties (before the inevitable when he became the lone strongest) and had time to enjoy his life after being isolated for so long.
It’s kinda ridiculous to compare his blue spring (which mind you is a product of Mappa NOT Gege) to Yuuji when they are different part of his life ! Instead on focusing on that, they should see the glass half full : Yuuji had a huge positive impact on Gojo’s life in few months ! Why being insecure when it’s Itadori Yuuji we are talking about !!!
- I'd still consider Gojo's Blue Spring as canon to the text, i.e. not illegitimate because MAPPA produced so much in its name. There's a reason why, in the manga, Gege had Gojo appear as his teenage self and the first person he spoke to be Geto when he (Gojo) died, right?
- I agree that a bigger deal should be made of how Gojo knew Yuuji for less than a year and yet was so impacted by him. It almost feels like Yuuji's life must stretch out so long so that he might properly mourn all the years they did not get together—might live both his life and the one Gojo should have had
- To be fair, I think I understand where their bitterness stems from, as I felt similarly when I was struggling to reconcile my feelings about 236 and the end of the manga. This is only exacerbated by how the rest of the fandom seem fully convinced that Gojo "chose" Geto, and goes out of their way to make sure you know it... It was especially bad during the promotional period leading up to the HI compilation movie, worsened by a drought of Yuuji-related content 😓
