with u, nora, i think part of it comes from the fact i literally watched u grow up. i was already a teenager when u were still a kid and even back then u had this strong sense of who u were. smart at school, obsessed with music and films from a very young age, and i still think it’s funny that one of ur earliest memories is watching cleopatra with our grandma and remembering little flashes of it for years afterwards. feels very nora. i always describe u as this lilac and silver sort of soul because there’s something naturally magnetic about u, but i think what stands out most is how unapologetically yourself u’ve always been. once u decide u want something for yourself, there’s no person on earth capable of convincing u that u don’t deserve it. honestly i think u’ve been fighting for yourself like that since u were born. i’ve always admired that about u and i think being around someone so certain of themselves shapes u without u even realising it.

with ciara it’s different because we practically grew up side by side. there’s only a few years between us. she’s got this incredibly free spirit but at the same time she’s deeply introverted. she doesn’t waste energy trying to explain herself and there’s something very untouchable about her peace. she’s always creating something, writing, making art, disappearing into films, planning journeys in her head before they even exist physically. there’s something very wanderlust about her spirit. she just pays attention. to people, to feelings, to silence. we’ve always had so much in common and every time we’re together we end up laughing until we can barely breathe. if i had to describe her in colours i’d probably say white, grey, dark pink and black. she smells like blueberries in the rain and old yellow book pages.
