How does nostalgia sounds like to you?

Sometimes nostalgia feels like a fond memory of something I‘ve unfortunately already experienced and can‘t go back, but the memories are so sweet and lovely. But at the other moments, nostalgia hurts.

Nostalgia sounds like music playing softly from another room. Like laughter you can’t fully remember, train stations at night, old voice messages you hesitate to replay, and the silence after a beautiful moment ends.

It sounds warm until you listen too closely. Then suddenly, it hurts.

Something bittersweet...something I can feel deep in my spine but can never really touch. Or “Ribs” by Lorde.
