Are horror comedies also allowed? (e.g. Happy Deathday, Better Watch Out, The Babysitter, Ready or Not, etc.)
Yes, yes! You got it!

If you don't get 40 apps, would you consider cutting down the contributor lineup so the project can still happen ? I think this is a really fun idea and a smaller zine would still work!
Hello!
The minimum amount of Contributors is 21, which would be achievable (since we have 29)! However, there is a severe imbalance of artists and writers. Zines tend to lose contributors and have to pull in pinch hitters. At this rate, we will have no writer pinch hitters :(

i've never run a zine before so i could definitely be missing something, but why can't the zine run without 40 participants? also if the participant threshold meets the bare minimum, does that mean everyone will be accepted?
Considering the max amount (13 artists, 13 writers, 13 Spot Artists) would land us at 39 Contributors, 40 seems like the bare minimum that could be asked for. If the bare minimum is met, yes, potentially everyone will be accepted, but it also means accepting styles/pieces that wouldn't have fit into the Zine. Not to mention, we would have absolutely no pinch hitters in case someone were to drop out. That is why 40+ applicants are needed. Thank you!

sorry if this is answered in your rules or requirements i'm just terrible at finding it, but does submissions have to be jayvik centric or can we submit other fandom work for contribution submissions?
Hello! Submissions for Contributor Applications don't have to be Jayvik-Centric, but they are supposed to showcase what vibe/style you want to bring to the Zine!

hello! i’m not sure if tally is meant to send confirmation emails, but i did not get one. i did get a confirmation screen after submitting, but technology can be tricky at times. is there a plan for reaching out to individuals that have applied?
Hello! While I believe there is no way to do that from your end, rest assured that we are capable of reaching you once Contributor Applications have ended!

Is it possible we can submit a google drive link to our portfolio instead of a zip file? The 10 mb limit is unfortunately too small for my file, the smallest I can get it to is 16.7 mb...
Hello! If you would like to add a Google Drive link, you can add it in the questions/comments box at the end of the submission!

Hello! I have no idea how the mod selection is going (well, I hope!). I sent an application for formatting (experience in art magazine as participant, plus academic book editing for print etc.). If you still need an art mod, and I have not filled the formatting mod placement, consider my offer extended to art mod. I'm willing to learn/perhaps I already have some of the skills needed and I would like to see this project thrive :)
Hello! You come up anonymous, but if you do see this, feel free to message either our BlueSky or Twitter so I know who this is!

For writers, will we be able to submit samples of larger works? I have two fics that I’d like to use (slasher and psychological horror my BELOVED) but they’re both quite long and 20k+/10k+ are usually too much for submission samples :’) I know references to underage in the zine have to be kept as nondescript/implied in flashbacks, but I wanted to ask if fics with underage not implied can be submitted as samples as well?
Yes! Of you would like to send in a snippet as your example, that would be alright! As for the second part, it's alright, but please add a trigger warning somewhere in the title!
