Revospring is faster than ever

Big news: Revospring just moved to brand-new infrastructure, and it is faster than it has ever been.

Pages that used to slow down during busy hours now load in a fraction of a second, at any hour, for everyone. Profiles, timelines, search, media: all of it is quicker. The site finally has room to grow, and we intend to use it.

We measured it, because we could hardly believe it ourselves. These are real numbers from every request the site served this week, at the same busy evening hours. A typical page went from 170 milliseconds to 56. The slowest pages tell the real story: the worst 1% of page loads used to take 35 seconds. Now they take half of one.

As far as we can tell, this makes Revospring almost certainly the fastest Retrospring-based site running today, and likely the fastest there has ever been.

Thank you for your patience while we built this. If you noticed a hiccup or a brief maintenance window recently, that was us getting the new home ready, and your patience paid off. Some of you stuck with us through the slow days, and that loyalty means a lot.

The speed upgrade caps off a busy stretch of improvements:

• Site rules are published at /rules, so moderation standards are clear and the same for everyone.
• Ban appeals are open at /appeal, and every ban now comes with a written reason.
• A public suggestions board is live at /suggestions. Post ideas, vote on the ones you like, and watch them get built. Several recent fixes came straight from user reports, including the double-posting bug some of you ran into.
