Hi XiaoXin!
I just got wondering. What is, in your opinion, an invasion of privacy? For me personally, it is anything that has to do with artist’s personal life, that also includes relationship he has with anyone. So how is shipping not an invasion of privacy? When people are publicly discussing artist’s private relationship and also assuming sexuality by doing that?

For me, there’s a distinction between shipping based on publicly released content and invading someone’s private life. When I talk about ZhanCheng, I only discuss things they or their teams have chosen to show publicly, bts footage, interviews, livestreams, public interactions, etc. People can interpret those interactions differently and I personally enjoy them from a shipper’s perspective. But I don’t claim to know what their actual relationship or sexuality is, because only they know that.
For me, invasion of privacy is when people cross the boundary of what has been voluntarily made public, for example, following them privately, tracking flights/hotels, leaking private schedules or conversations, secretly photographing them during personal time, digging into their families or private relationships, or spreading private information that they never chose to share.
Of course, everyone has a different boundary when it comes to fandom and shipping. If someone considers shipping itself an invasion of privacy and therefore chooses not to participate in it, I completely respect that too 😊
