i wish i understood this phenomenon to have an answer for you love but im just as flabbergasted and confused as you are. it just doesn't make sense to me how a lot of the fandom treats hyunchan as a duo as sexual objects and thats it, refusing to see the incredible emotional bond and connection they have with each other. i think preferred ships have something to do with that though, liking another ship apart from hyunchan is fine and dandy but reducing hyunchans existing real dynamic to sexual tension or whatever is so weird and unnecessary. and people tend to do that so their ships feel more "real"...

also what the fuck kinda comment is that 😭😭 LEAST sexual chemistry??? why is it either 0 or a 100 with these people. and still they refuse to see how romantic hyunchan is 💀 the fact escape is clearly a gay tragedy love story and they both were fully aware of it and leaning into it and saying how moved they were by the mv is proof enough of their emotional connect to each other... wanting to escape with your lover away from the world because you only have each other???????
and that's not even mentioning red lights. people only see red lights as a sex song while it has such a vulnerable theme of pure obsession to the point of ruin. and the fact that they BOTH relate to it only goes to show how deeply obsessive they both are and that's not something everyone can relate to or understand, therefore they Get Each Other™ in ways very few others can.

ALSO it pisses me off when people want or ask for an ot8 version of hyunchan songs or another member/duo instead. like hello thats their artistry??? its THEIRS. not our problem the duo you want has a different flavour and artistry, you cannot be stealing hyunchan's art and paste another pair onto it as if its an empty template 😭😭

lovely i'll have you know that i HADNT thought of them before cuz i got real busy with my irl stuff but every single time i looked at your ask all i could think about is bratty hyune slashing and swirling his sword infront of chans face tryna intimidate him and them two getting into duels / sparring each other and getting all agitated and hot and bothered by each other. chan using heavier swords and hyune maybe dual wielding with much lighter ones, their fighting styles entirely different, their forms entirely different, chan insisting on discipline and proper etiquette while hyune is an opportunity grabber, never afraid to play dirty if he gets that final blow, that kill shot. that's why he's good at his job, being an assassin doesn't necessarily mean he has to win every fight, be stronger than his opponent, but instead he just needs to land one clean, fatal blow. and he's swift, good at looking for weaknesses. that's why he sees through the cracks in chan's facade, sees the elitist pride he has and knows he lowkey looks down upon hyunjin for being younger, less experienced in martial arts and more carefree and still having minho's favour. and he sees the internal battle chan fights every time hyunjin is hurt when he returns home from one of his missions, or bleeds in one of their sparring matches. he sees the way chan has to hold himself back from showing his concern, from caring for hyune. he sees the way chan's fingers twitch in anticipation, just short of holding hyunjin's body when they meet at night under the guise of a fight.

i'm glad you agree with it! honestly sometimes i can't tell if they are obvious and the hints are right infront of us or im just being delusional but hearing people agree w the timeline makes me happy that yall see the vision too 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ they are def the extremes kind, both feel emotions so deeply that anything is bound to make them feel A Lot, be it good or bad. [i mostly also attribute this to their neurodivergence - since i headcanon chan being on the spectrum and hyune with adhd] they def like playfulness and riling each other up, it keeps them on their toes and makes it more fun, especially for hyunjin's adrenaline junkie self. i think they're the kind of people to each other that you come across and you just know they're gonna leave a lasting impact, they might ruin you, might make you the happiest, but either way they're gonna change your life forever and there's a distinct "before" them and "after" them. hyunchan give each other so much and in general are so considerate and good for each other, that i doubt either of them can ever move on from the other. they're for real star crossed lovers there's no world i see where they're not soulmates [chan wrote it himself!]
