If you had the ability to remove one piece of technology from existence, what would it be?
i feel like generative ai is a good default answer
If I was forced to pick only one, then generative AI, there's no contest
I feel that's obvious tho, so I'd go with all forms of copy protection, it doesn't work and only makes "legitimate" experiences worse.
Does the stock market count as technology? Probably not...
Assuming that the tech I remove just, never appears again, it would be gone and it's concept erased... honestly? I may remove Bluetooth. Don't get me wrong, my wireless mouse is fine and just connecting to a car by getting in is cool and all... but I think wireless on that scale has made so much shit so much worse. I fucking hate wireless IEMs with their batteries that die after a year, I hate that so much shit skips on having proper ports for connecting shit because it's wireless. Just let me plug shit in, put usb-c everywhere and let me stream audio and stuff over it and stop it with all the wireless preudo-convenience that doesn't work half the time anyway, invades privacy in many places, makes shit less secure, more easily obsolete, faster degrading and overall just fuck all of that. Bluetooth/wireless data transfer will be snapped out of existence.
Since you already said DRM, I think I'll go with self-checkouts in supermarkets. I hate them with a passion, I will drive through half the city to get to a store where I get to interact with an actual paid human if need be. Honestly, online ordering is preferrable to this.
To answer Our own question... digital rights management, probably. We will not elaborate.
