I think no matter the circumstances I think your gender is valid if you’re happy with it.

Like, how we get to what our gender is can be anything. Sometimes its trauma, and how to deal with that trauma. Sometimes someone won’t be able to explore their gender if they dont have a safe space to do so. I think all the time about people who live in conservative areas and never even have a chance to think about their gender, but for some reason they always feel uneasy.

I also think experimentation with gender as a coping mechanism is great! Give yourself a vacation from how you currently are. Try on a new identity. Get Weird with it, or get Extemely Regular but Different with it.

The best part about gender is you can always go back. Experimentation is wildly important because you never know if you dont try. If you dont like it? Hey, that’s cool! Now you know! You’ve done more introspection about your gender than 99% of people, and now have a new perspective on it. The worse case scenario is now you know FOR SURE that youre cis.

At the end of the day the concept of gender is fucking made up and you can do whatever you want. There are cultures across the world with wildly different concepts of gender. To restrict yourself to just being the Man Or Woman you were born as is fucking boring. Live a little. Shave your head. Put on a skirt. Do some wild shit. You might surprise yourself.
