I have opinions and it might get a little lengthy so forgive me.

First of I will preface this by saying that Sukuna and Yuji have my favourite dynamic in the series but I don’t really ship them romantically. They are two of my favourite characters and I’ve read fics of them but not a lot of romantic ones so I cannot attest to how ooc they can be in those settings. I mostly ship goyuu tbh, but I like your analysis on them in the manga so that’s why I follow your content.
But I couldn’t help but notice that most of the people championing that take seem to be reverse or switch shippers. I know this cause I recognised about three other users who ship yuugo (even tho they say it’s goyuu it’s really not). I like yuugo too. Or rather let me say I don’t particularly care for goyuu or yuugo as it pertains to their bedroom activities and care more for how their dynamic is written or for the plot. Same can be said for skit. I don’t think of their positions in bed but if the plot is good enough I would keep reading.

That being said, doesn’t that post just seem like it’s coming from a place of feeling like a minority in a majorly opposite leaning ship. Like most skits are skits and aren’t really itsk. Some like both and some only like itsk. I can understand their craving for the opp dynamic but they are saying the exact same things they hate on skit/goyuu for.

“Yuji suffers from mischaracterisations in these ships.” But you guys want him to be violent af for no reason. “Yuji is a pushy person.” No tf he’s not. In fact, a lot of reason why people don’t really like Yuji as MC is because they feel like he’s too passive to the plot. He doesn’t drive the plot and lets the plot drive him. I think saying he has strong ideals would be more appropriate for what they mean to say instead of he would push Sukuna around. They forget that Sukuna also cannot be pushed around and the only time he was ever powerless was when he was caged up in Yuji’s body.

Another thing I’ve never understood not just in shipping spaces but jjk in general is the sentiment that Sukuna hates Yuji. He has never stated to hate anyone simply because the only thing he’s ever cared about were his own pleasures and whims whatever disinterests him he simply swats away. Yuji however is the only one to state that he loathes Sukuna. And that makes sense because Sukuna as well as Mahito stand for things that Yuji is very much opposed to. That’s what makes Yuji extending grace to Sukuna special and what makes it stand out. It’s an oversimplification and frankly a misread to say Sukuna hated Yuji and had no interest in him when his actions proved otherwise. No one else has ever escaped nor survived that long under Sukuna’s disinterest. No matter how much he tried to wave Yuji off, Yuji always proved him wrong. He was constantly wondering to himself about Yuji’s ideals. Wanting to break them and it never lasted long enough to work. To me that’s interest even if it’s not in the generic way he was interested in other people’s strength. So to say he found him boring all the way until he defeated him is honestly just not true. You could say he didn’t want to believe Yuji wanted to give him another opportunity at life until Yuji sincerely in a state where Sukuna could no longer defend himself still offered him amnesty. That was the moment Sukuna probably realised how diff Yuji was from anyone he’s ever known. He obviously doesn’t soften up and say it with flowery words but that must have touched him. Enough to simply free Yuji from that curse and decide to try a new path. Idk why that ending still gets misinterpreted by people.

Another thing is I noticed that people simply cannot have top Yuji unless he’s domineering in some way which, again, like I said is them being hypocritical with their takes. You say skits are forcing stereotypes on sukuita but in the same breath you seem to have an issue with writing a kind and gentle Yuji topping Sukuna. And even if you want them bickering and fighting till death are all fics going to be rinsed and repeated to keep fitting their canon dynamics with no changes ever?

The whole point of an AU is to explore and ALTERNATIVE where the plot and character dynamics can extend and grow far beyond what their canon story could do. Yes it doesn’t mean we should twist the characters until they are unrecognisable, I also don’t like that. But to expect every fic writer to write them always hating each other is just not plausible.
If we are always going to follow canon then they will never date. There is no world in canon where Yuji would date his teacher or date Megumi or date Sukuna or even Ozawa or anybody else. Simply because he wasn’t written to have romantic interest in anyone. Which is why fics exist.

It’s a bit distasteful to write off author’s stories while also barely contributing to the fandom. I say this because I know a user who notoriously hates almost every fic that has to do with Yuji because it somehow doesn’t fit her 1000 better interpretations of his character with other people. It’s quite redundant always trying to police people’s fics especially because all it would ever do is either make them stop writing entirely for the ship or not care and keep writing how they’ve been writing.
Idk I think a lot of it comes from spite being the minority in this shipping space because even the head yuugo writer on ao3 in that thread notoriously loves not tagging their fics with any top or bottom because they obviously want people to read them and that’s fine but don’t act like you don’t just secretly resent the fact that that’s not the more popular dynamic so then you call 85% of the fics with the opposite dynamic mischaracterisation to cope. I think both dynamics can suffer from this if you prioritise tropes and sexual positions over the actual characters and story. More work can be done on that for sure but I can’t in good faith take all their arguments seriously when it’s a biased one.

Omgg, he's already suffering but still so considerate and kind (as that's how he just is) to think about the future generations and ready to take responsibilities up his shoulders.
Just because he now seems 'gloomy', people love to make yuuji dark to fit their agendas but even after all this, they tend to forget who he still is, and will continue to be, I love my boy 🥺

Was reading modulo, and even after such an important thing was addressed by yuuji, I still cannot understand why the hell are people mischarcterzing yuuji for someone with no heart just to fit their headcanons.

Why am I writing it? 🤨 Because I WANT TO AND BECAUSE I FUCKING CAN. Oh, and also because it’s canon that Sukuna sees Yuuji as his home and his refuge, so yes, Sukuna is more than capable of being gentle with Yuuji and vice versa.

Or worse still, that other person with the Aang pfp complaining that Skit writers "aren’t any good and can’t write properly" because they don’t write WHAT THEY WANT TO READ.

God, these people piss me off. They complain that there isn’t enough ‘quality content’ (according to them), but they don’t lift a finger to create the content they want to read or watch 🫩🫩🙄

I’ve got absolutely nothing against ItaSuku – in fact, I quite like it (and I’m writing an ItSk fic myself) – but fans like these just make a bad impression of the rest of us who also support this dynamic. 😞😞

Personally, I think the person complaining about Skit has some valid points, such as the fact that in many fanfics Yuuji is far too submissive towards Sukuna when Yuuji would never actually behave like that, or that Sukuna is far too out of character. HOWEVER, the rest just seems like a telling-off for fans simply enjoying a particular dynamic... I love ItaSuku; I love imagining Sukuna being dominated by Yuuji because I feel that Yuuji would be the ONLY one capable of subduing Sukuna in that way, but I understand if there are other people who can’t see them swapping their top/bottom dynamic.
