it started out with one simple thought; I always found that cortis would fit a 90s setting well... so naturally one day I realized I wanted to write a fic like that. at first it was only supposed to be a maju fic and background keonhyeon, but then I thought it would be fun to make two parts out of it with two different povs. I wrote down A LOT of ideas for scenes, I get inspired by the media I consume on the daily (music, shows, movies, but also cortis yt content) so that was very important for me to rely on during this entire process. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to have the party scene! plus the skateboarding and shed. but honestly a lot of ideas came while I was writing and I also scratched a few earlier ideas haha.
this was also the first time for me to write an au this long and at first I thought I would never be able to finish it. believe me, I struggled many times while writing both parts. my tip would be to believe in your writing skills and that some things will come together naturally - you don't have to figure out everything right from the beginning. but you should also invest a good amount of time into thinking through the plot. what helped me is writing down a timeline for this au and which events I wanted to happen when. it's difficult but in the end it's so worth it! and remember, it takes time and patience.
