i do that with your simon art on /co/ sometimes, it’s so iconic. i’ll cherish it forever.

thank you 🥺 i actually get really happy when i see my work reposted there haha. Guess I'm a weird artist for enjoying reposts but I feel like it's different when it's not on soc media. It's not someone exploiting your work for engagement/attention it's just someone genuinely going "look at this cool picture!" i don't mind reposts in contexts like that. I don't sign/watermark my work partially bc my ids are so transient but also bc i like to imagine my fanart having a life beyond me just floating through the net forever. So many of the things that inspired me as a kid I had no idea where they came from - cool art in peoples forum signatures, used as geocities or neopets pet page decor, part of an image thread, etc. And I felt it was kind of cool that those works had a life of their own, the person behind them mysterious. My original work I do kind of attach my ego to i guess, but with a lot of my fandom stuff i kind of like to imagine it existing on its own independently from me, considered on its own for what it is instead of thinking about the weird artist that drew it. Imo it's better than, idk, the way people talk about known artists... one of the reasons i've shifted identities so much in my online lifespan is bc I just feel allergic to the way people talk about known artists like e-celebs lol. It's unavoidable to some degree, but I would really hate it if people ever speculated/talked more about my personal life than my art.
