Look I wanna agree with you about the dub changes but nah Crunchyroll dub tryna be sneaky, they’ve been caught doing this before. “Feel like a new man” and “I don’t look like any man you’ve seen before?” also allow just enough wiggle room, one’s a figure of speech and the others a question, not definitive phrases like “I’m a guy” or “I’m a man”. Mind you I like the “marriage advisor” change in the sub given the context. Kinosaki literally says “okoto” in the JPN audio. If this was 1998 they’d be seen as the same but it’s 2026, they chose “I’m not a girl” instead of “I’m a guy” deliberately. Reactionary idiots are reactionary idiots but if anyone’s gonna actually mess with the series you love, well, exhibit A

  • i think people should relax about 1 line from the single first episode.

  • also i'm at work now and can't double check but i did see some mentions that it could have been a matter of lining up to mouth movements (and again i can't confirm myself rn but just imagine length of sentences i can see that making sense)

  • ultimately this is just the dub. i don't think one vague line in the dub (again in the very first episode) overrules the subtitled anime and officially translated manga being very clear.

  • again it's only the first episode and i think people should wait for something more than something that COULD POSSIBLY MAYBE BE ARGUED IN BAD FAITH (which people were doing w the manga before to cope, anyway!) before starting the culture war lol

(but also glad to see some other people DO understand why the marriage advisor line change is good! which happened in the sub.)
