So has Kinosaki been working with the Poison Clan / Doll user / someone else from the very beginning with the goal of getting Gero to win over the various women the clan set him up to meet? I just caught up to the manga but feel like I missed something as to why Kinosaki asked Tonako for help and then doubled crossed her

you're not missing anything really! we don't know the full extent yet. here's what we know:
- kinosaki and his brother were part of the poison clan's human zoo as children. this starts the connection
- at some point, doll user gained some kind of control over kinosaki that involves the scar on his chest (likely his heart) and puts a time limit on his life
- doll user is also manipulating the marriage hunt. whether that includes directing kinosaki to do specific things in the marriage hunt isn't clear.
- kinosaki asks tonako for help to protect gero. in exchange, tonako wants tips on how to win over gero. it's unclear how kinosaki had tonako's info to contact her.
hopefully we start getting more answers to these soon!!
