Kate already knew that Cy had photos of other students, or perhaps she only found out when she discovered he had photos of a young Lynn, like: "You have photos of a girl? It's Lynn... wait, YOU HAD PHOTOS OF YOUR STUDENTS?" (I get the feeling that deep down she's insecure that he never I took pictures of her that way, except for the ones she sent to he)
What really triggers Kate is how young Lynn looks in those childhood pics. She would find nudes from 16yo girls iffy but wouldn't lose her shit over it, but seeing pics of Lynn from ages anywhere from 10 to 14? Really disturbing to her. I think that jump in age is what finally startles her into looking at the big picture she was trying to ignore from the beginning.
So Kate's inner journey regarding Cy's attractions is as follows:
1. "I'm the exception, he likes me because I'm mature for my age"
2. "Ok, I'm not the only one, but he's just an opportunistic asshole who flirts with whomever is in proximity to him, teachers or students"
3. "Oh my god, okay, he has thing for little girls"
