After having recently watched the Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0 I had a few thoughts that Gendo Ikari reminded me a lot of Cy in terms of ASPD and NPD traits, I was curious (and pardon me if it's already been answered before) but what were some inspirations for Cy as a character?
You're making me want to rewatch it, because I remember finding Gendo weirdly self-aware and introspective in that movie, like Anno had forced him to go to therapy offscreen, it was kinda funny!
I don't have any direct, conscious inspiration for Cy, but I've likely channeled a lot of my fascination for characters like Johann Liebert, Hannibal Lecter & Will Graham (esp the TV versions) into him. If there's any characters that remind me of him in Evangelion, it's probably more Kaji & Misato.
