well, i originally wanted to put one of them on the pittsburgh penguins bc that’s My Team, but i didn’t have the heart to make one of them play for the philadelphia flyers… i could NEVER do that to one of them… lmao. i wanted to stick to the eastern conference bc it’s the division i’m more familiar with obviously, and i thought to myself: hmmm which teams are non-hockey fans likely to have heard of? when i asked myself that, it was clear which teams i should use, and the fact they have a rivalry was perfect. i honestly thought about doing the boston bruins and montreal canadiens, but that was way too similar to heated rivalry😅

soo the chl is the canadian hockey league (and it has 3 divisions that i didn’t really explain, but jm was in the qmjhl and jn was in the ohl), and it’s more of a development league? like, only teenagers play in it, hence why nomin played there when they were 16-18. whereas the nhl is the national hockey league, which (if i had to compare it to other sports) is hockey’s version of the nfl, nba, mlb, or (i think) hockey’s version of the premier league/la liga/serie a. the chl is basically a league/system that prepares for and filters players into the nhl
