OK WELL.. Its related to this thing called The static (Working name? Maybe final name).. when a bomb goes off during a run in sector two, dante falls down a cliff (well, more like a mountain of scraps) and makes contact with long-abandoned, experimental government technology, developed at the height of the magnetic war - this thing, THE STATIC, is like an entity and a virus and a god and the universe and everything all at once and also nothing. it's sort of more of an idea. anyways, he becomes "infected" due to his brain being 50% cybernetic, and becomes obsessed with "spreading" it (not like consciously, more subconsciously; he suddenly becomes driven to do things, but doesnt know why), which is basically the inciting incident. Anyways this thing essentially sort of has mind control powers? Not like overtly but just like, suggestively. Its all very subtle because it's also an analogy for mental illness and morality so it's supposed to be up to interpretation whether the static is actually causing all of these things or if it's just how they view it
