Dear future me,
by the time you read this, two months will have passed. I wonder what will have changed in the meantime. I hope you've learned to be a little kinder to yourself. I hope the Cabinet has welcomed new faces and found its own little place in the world. How many new pieces have you finished with pride? I hope there were many.
I hope you have allowed yourself to be surprised by life, too; to slowly meet new people, to nurture the friendships you already have and to be more open with people who might, perhaps, want to get closer. And, above all, I hope you and your partner have had many more meals and quiet afternoons together, in the comfort you've created together.
If things haven't gone as you hoped, and I know it's probably the case, that is alright, too, you know. Some things take longer to grow. Some answers only arrive when we stop insisting on finding them. As you hear... "Let life take you where it will."
Whatever your circumstances are when you read this, may you have more things to look forward to than things to fear, and may you never become so accustomed to your own happiness that you forget to be grateful for it. It's the end of the year for you now. Make promises. Be hopeful.
With love,
your past self.
