okay so!!!!! my advice would be to write what YOU find hot. yes, getting into the technicalities of it will always be less appealing than reading it, but if its smth u genuinely find hot itll be easier to indulge in it and get in the flow. what do u like to read? whys that? maybe it conveys a deeper meaning underlying the surface of it etc. there are so many facets to smut bc its not just the sex that gets u to go oh i like this. there’s stakes maybe? slowburn? or maybe its just a simple pwp of kinky stuff. do u want it to be intimate? slow? rough? i personally can’t write smut without buildup either in the fic or in my head and if youve read my pwps u can always tell there’s smth going on aside from them fucking even if i dont delve in too deep with the wc. its what works for me. i have to decide on the emotions i want to portray in the scene.

also don't be afraid to get cringe. bc u will at some point but u can depend on what youve built up to neutralise!! i can never gauge if my dirty talk is cringe or not even when my readers tell me its good and thats BECAUSE I WROTE IT and im more critical of it, naturally. so instead of trying to write COOL stuff all the time i often lean into the cringe, loser part of it (i depend on soobin for this) sometimes a character will say smth and their partner will laugh be its ridiculous. don't be afraid to do that be just SEX exposition is boring. there needs to be a conversation and that can be banterish or romantic or both u can break the sexiness and build it back u can have an interruption or smth that goes against what the reader expects to happen.

also if it helps u dont have to get so in detail with physical descriptions, u can choose to focus on feelings and internal monologue and keep it brief with pretty prose or smth. and u don't have to write things u don't like for example i get bored of writing orals so i either avoid it or i keep it short. and well hmm the reader can always tell when ur not having fun writing smth. it doesn't matter if ur not confident or 100% sure abt it bc u might never be! how i feel abt my writing isn’t always related to the quality of it but the mental state i was in while writing which is why some of my well-received fics arent my fav and thats okay!! im still proud i put it out there.

honestly just write kinky shit u like and don't think too much abt the method. do it as a stream of consciousness and go back and edit with fresh eyes on another day. it'll be good. hope this was insightful i feel like writing smut is always intuitive for me bc of how much ive read its also less hard than writing other things in a story and im grateful for that #perversion

hi dear i know what u mean i used to struggle with this so much when i first started writing and a lot of my friends find it easier to write rarepairs bc ships that have a lot of moments are a little demotivating for writers to get them inspired bc it feels like you’ve already been fulfilled through canon so there’s no need to consume or create fiction of that ship (in a way) my only tip is to be greedy tbh. and it also depends on what ur definition of shipping is bc some ppl are satisfied with what happens in front of them without needing to turn to fiction and others like to be delusional and put their ship in situations. if u don’t want to lose motivation to write something u have to make a distinction between what happens in real life with ur ship and the fictional world you’ve inserted them in that is Of Your Own Creation. what keeps me writing is that i have so much desire to put soogyu thru things and build plots for them so even if they do crazy shit irl that makes me excited and somewhat demotivated to write sometimes, i can still whirl around and get immersed in that fiction bc there’s more stuff to build on ykwim? its a matter of u reminding yourself that they’re a little separate. them being crazy doesn’t mean u should be less crazy. and u get to decide if its worth it or not! if u care about it, why wouldn’t it be important to write? when a pairing is crazy i just need to (continue) whether by reading or writing about them more and it becomes a cycle of knee-deep immersion. if u don’t stop reading fanfiction when a ship has a lot of moments then u shouldn’t stop writing either ur issue is self doubt and that’s not embarrassing bc we all deal with it. and its totally okay if ur not motivated to create all the time i just hope u don’t give up entirely !!
