I think just about every piece of media has had an influence on me, some obviously much greater than others. I think the most "oversized" ever would probly be Kingdom Hearts, it set the tone for my taste preferences from its release through the rest of my life hehehe.
For something more recent I would say In Stars and Time, that was writing that saw through to my soul and helped me heal in ways I couldn't even fathom before playing. I will recommend In Stars and Time to every person I meet, and have even gifted out several copies to frembs last holiday season <3
The first one that that applies to is likely Elfenlied, got it at like 16, started reading at 11:00 and finished it all at 4:00 in the morning. I was going through.. a lot and was not having the best self image at that time. The protagonist being loved regardless of their obvious danger, as well as the tragic love of it all resonated deeply with me.
I also watched various old comedies when I was younger, like M*A*S*H and I think that profoundly influenced my style of engaging with people and my humor.. I am a very funny person I think and many people like me for it, but in a sense where I heavily identify with Robin Williams who said (verbatim) "those who suffered the most are the ones who try most hardest to make everyone laugh, because they know pain the most" like.... yeah... yeah. I like making people laugh.
Icon for hire resonated deeply with me in young adulthood, the songs spoke to me and verbalized a lot of feelings I had over many years, and some resonates with me still to this day.
Half of contrapoints videos have hurt me deeply, personally. Her stories of being ashamed to be trans or a lesbian, her stories about being isolated in the communities you relied for mental stability because you've done something bad, her stories of essentially bad internalized transphobia that have tripped her up over and over... yeah. Honestly in many ways she is the trans woman I connected to the most in my life so far, even if she "despises" catwoman like me. Idk in her massively flawed way I relate much more to her than many others (I too have deeply rancid takes sometimes that I regret voicing).
Fire emblem games had been my refuge all my childhood, so I think giving me my name counts as an oversized influence... same goes for Doctor Who then too I think.
Idk how I got so invested into the anime girls band cry... it made me buy a guitar and rewatch it 15 times and yearn for continuations every day. It has the vibe of a music Little Witch Academia which is one of my favorite shows of all time and unlike it there is a real chance to turn gay in the way I crave so maybe I'm just massively queerbaited.
I likely can go on, I am easily influenced
oooooh there are So Many lmao
currently it's obey me! and jojo's bizarre adventure, i think that's quite obvious in how i never stop talking about them
stuff that had an enormous influence on me in the past were sailor moon, inuyasha, akatsuki no yona, animal crossing, stardew valley
i think those things are so important to me bc they help me in my quest for my own identity and in the processing of my emotions
i think overall anime and in general media that's considered "unserious" has had quite a positive impact on me. because it taught me to see the world in less of a cynical way and be a more whimsical creature
games, especially of the "cozy" kind taught me to have fun on my own and allowed me to be creative. otome which is also a very important genre to me helped me in understanding relationships and people better and also seeing the romance in everyday things
ok i blabbered enough lol
i feel like the obvious one for me is definitely marvel and super heroes in general. this idea of fighting for others even at your own personal inconvenience has been something i have internalized from such a young age because of these stories. most super heroes have a pride in what they do. they don't see helping others as a burden but as something they were born to do and ever since i was little i hoped i could be the same way
There was a cover of a song by Mori Calliope...
