I think I have to clarify the timeline of things to put everything in perspective!

Justin and Carlo had already been broken up for quite some time before Reese ever happened. Carlo was the last serious relationship before Reese, yes. But he met Reese long after his relationship with Carlo had ended. So Reese wasn’t something Justin jumped into just to fill a void. He really wanted Reese.

Now, when Justin and Carlo got back together, that was two years after Reese left him. And take note, Reese left him. Justin was abandoned again. So when he tried to build a life that wasn’t centered around Reese anymore, that wasn’t him replacing Reese. That was him trying to rebuild his life again.

Was it unfair? In some ways, yes. Both Reese and Carlo loved Justin. But Justin also clearly loved both of them. Just differently. When he got back with Carlo, it wasn't the "easy" choice. Going back to him wasn’t about convenience. It was about trying to move forward. It just so happened that it was Carlo who was there at the time when Justin was healing. And he was someone that Justin really loved back then. So he wanted to see if, maybe this time, they could make it work.

And I think that’s where the complexity comes in. Loving someone new doesn’t automatically erase the love you had before. And loving someone from your past again doesn’t mean what you felt in between was fake. Justin isn't perfect. He isn't moving perfectly. He’s moving like someone who has been hurt, left, and is trying to figure out how to live without building his entire world around the person who walked away.

These are people who make choices that are messy, irrational, and even contradictory. It doesn't make them bad people, just makes them human.
