can someone teach mike stans the difference between canon and fanon. the temper tantrums i've seen this week over people discussing his canon behavior is insane. they want everyone to take their headcanons as law. sorry some of us willl actually discuss the show and work with who he is as a character and his potential and not some finn wolfhard self insert fantasy

i mean i have definitely seen some ridiculous takes from both sides, but most of my mike stan mutuals have been alright? their takes a typically reasonable and don't lean more towards just seeing him as finn wolfhard. unless you have specific ones in mind that you're willing to share, because i haven't seen them.

i do agree with discussing his canon behavior more than the fanon character that's been created — i actually prefer it. i especially love when writers dissect him while keeping him as similar to his canon character as possible. idk it feels more fulfilling as it acknowledges everything he's said/done to hurt others, though i find it very difficult to actually find this sort of portrayal in most fics.

i do love some fanon interpretations, but finding the right balance makes things soooo much better. like. mike was so mean and didn't develop, but he also cared so much once upon a time. it just feels more earned when acknowledging that. there was a lot of potential when it came to him and it will forever hurt to see it go to waste
