help me find a bug to like im afraid of everything with legs

HELLO why of course :], if you don't like critters with lots of legs i think round and smooth ones are best for you.

  • ladybugs are a classic and they are not scary to most! they are said to bring luck and they only have six legs that don't look all scuttery at all. Bumblebees and moths are other winged insects that can be very cute but moths tend to have thick legs, that might freak you out a little so i won't attach a pic.

bumblebee: https://www.extermpro.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/bumble-bee.jpg (bumblebee and bees are not the same bugs, bumblebees are much rounder and bigger than bees.)

(the one that we think of when we talk about ladybugs in europe and north america, the seven-spot ladybird. there are some other pretty kinds that are more yellow and orange than red.)

i could have added butterflies too as their legs are barely noticeable, but there are sooo many kinds it'd be hard to settle on one...

  • Snails and slugs are not insects, but they obviously do not have legs so no freaky. i love snails they are so cute so i'm still mentioning them. if you ever see a snail on a pavement and you want to rescue it from being stepped on, please make sure to poke them gently so they retract in their shell or try to slide them very gently bc if you rip them off their surface it could kill them.

the milk snail is so cute: https://inaturalist-open-data.s3.amazonaws.com/photos/34320121/large.jpg its shell looks like meringue!

  • caterpillars can have little legs but on some you see them less, like on the woolly bear caterpillar! it's very, very cute. very fluffy like its name shows and in north america there are festivals dedicated to it which is adorable. (flower arrangement during a festival https://site-690762.mozfiles.com/files/690762/medium/03.JPG )

they look like little nuggets here 😭 https://i.pinimg.com/736x/fc/53/0e/fc530e12225373a2a63e3770b5838cae.jpg
unlike a lot of caterpillars, those don't sting so you can handle them (with care) and it be safe!!

i hope this is a good first selection! anything leggy like milipedes, silverfish or pillbugs should be avoided, although they also have very cool features too and are not likely to be a threat to humans! 🦋
