Abt the casting rumors— I really would not say that book casts the Israeli character in a positive light at all
the author herself attended an event held by a zionist org and also references that org in the novel. even if the book did not that character that's enough for me to boycott.
to address the character, apparently she has "disputed the suggestion that any references to isra*l in her work conveyed any particular viewpoint." which means she has not at all taken a clear stance against a clear stance against zionism even when given the chance, and has chose to align herself with it. yeah the isra*li character is evil but is that a stance against the occupier? no. if it's not a clear stance against then I have nothing redeeming to say about her or this book.
