Hmm. Well, I'd like them to specify which modern military uniform. Because it certainly looks closer to a Nazi than any modern military uniform I know of. And to be clear, I have researched modern Japanese military uniforms, so I'm not bullshitting you when I tell you that the differences between AKATSUKI's new costume and the ones I can picture it being compared to are just too notable. It's not the current Imperial Guard uniform, and it's certainly not any of the current Maritime or Ground Self Defense Force uniforms. Military fashion is very specific, because it is used to send a political message. If you know which uniform they're referring to, please let me know so I can try to break it down to the best of my ability. Also yes, I do think relationship between Ryukyuan people and the military—both Japanese and American, historically and currently—makes the choice to depict him in military attire questionable in terms of messaging nonetheless.
