why do you use ; instead of ' ?? like i;m instead of i'm or don;t instead of don't

Its an inconsistent...er... "typing quirk." i use, i guess, i think its funny to use because its right beside the apostrophe on the keyboard so its usually a typo but i just started using it instead of the apostrophe .
