That's because you didnt implement FIFO method when storing your food. FIFO (first in first out), is when you store recently bought food in the farthest back while your old stock got moved to the very front so it'll be immediately used. This way, even if you forgot the exact date when you buy it, you generally know that food is been there for a while and need to be consumed. This method is also standard procedure in professional kitchen both for dry pantry and walk-in cooler :3
