Is Final Fantasy X basically Parkour Civilization but for Blitzball?

I wish! Final Fantasy X would be way better if Blitzball continued to be a major part of the storyline after Luca. I think it provides a strong foundation for the Tidus/Wakka relationship, which reallly falls apart in the back 2/3 of the game.
