I’ll be honest, it was actually inspired by a tiktok post that asked "what’s the worst family secret you’ve accidentally found out?" one of the comments said, "I was born to save my sister who had cancer" and that really stuck with me. It made me think about how painful it must be to grow up as a glass child, or even something heavier than that. From there I did some research, and I was also influenced by My Sister’s Keeper (though i honestly didn’t like the book’s ending 😭), the film Oscar et la dame rose, and a local movie. And I made sure to look into the medical side so it felt as real as possible. So yeah, that’s where Born For Another came from ~
